Felt Project: Softie Blocks

Making  softie blocks really depends on your imagination. You can decide on the size, color, fabric, color and appliques. You can also add ribbons and even make it sound by putting jingle bells inside together with the stuffing.

Basically, all you need is 6 pieces of square fabric and stuffing. Sew all the fabrics together, stuff in and sew it to close, then you'll have your softie block.

But for those who don't want to use your imagination (like me, sometimes),
I found this great tutorial, with great photos of the process.

And here's my Softie Blocks.

Softie Blocks: Shapes and Initial (Circle, Star, Crescent Triangle,Square and letter Z)

Softie Blocks: WhatsUp in the Sky (Moon, Sun, Star, and Cloud)
Softie Blocks: Vehicles  (Car, Train, Ship and Rocket)

Cars 2 Party Theme for Onyx's 3rd Birthday

Last February 17, we celebrated the 3rd birthday of our nephew. Cars 2 is his favorite movie, so my sister decided it to be his party theme. She was hands-on on the preparations and I helped her with the invites, poster, name tags and thank you tags for the loot bags.

In the Photo: Cake and Cupcakes by KUSINA HABANA ; Poster ; Loot Bags and Prizes ; Gifts ; Pinata, Clowns from Hannah's and Pabitin

So here's what I did:

POSTER . Actually we just bought  a ready made CARS poster. It was so cheap (Php 30.00). My sister just added a traffic light using colored cardboard and I made the poster with my nephew's photo.

I would like to share to you the PNG File of the poster, if you like to use it.
You can download it here ---- POSTER

Using any editing software, place your photo underneath the poster.
Write the name on the red part using the font Hood Ornament.
Just do some adjustments on the letter spacing and use some Chrome Effects on it,
simplify and add drop shadows.
For the number at the bottom, use the font Bank Gothic
and edit it same as the text above.

INVITATION CARDS. It is a bookmark type of invites. I made 15 pieces of  them, with different characters each. Printed in Imari Coated Paper in SM Graphic Star.

NAME TAGS. The size of the name tags is 2"x3". Like the invites, all with different characters (42 pcs). Printed in Imari Coated Paper, we just put double sided tape at the back. Printing it in a sticker would cost us more.

THANK YOU TAGS. Size is 2"x4". Punched at the top and tied to the loot bags

I really enjoyed browsing some pictures of Cars 2 characters and I got to know their names as well. They are so cute and so colorful.

It is still February!

Coloring Mandalas

I love to Color!!!

When I was pregnant, my baby don't want me to sleep, hehehe. I don't like to watch TV or read a book. It was also at this time that I don't find the Internet amusing. I have so many weird feelings when I was preggy, these were just few of those. So I just sat in the bed and do nothing. It was so stressful for me and the baby.

I have to do something to keep me busy until I can go to sleep. There was not much work in the office then, so I began to search (secretly, ssssh!!!) for creative things to do. Coloring was my choice. I was looking for pages which are more intricate ones, and challenging too. I found many but what caught my attention was the astonishing intricacy of the MANDALAS.

What are Mandalas?
I have to lead you to Wikipedia, hehehe.
This SITE  too gives you a simpler explanation of what Mandala is and free coloring pages, as well.

The pattern itself is beautiful and when you color it, it is even more.
It did not only keep me busy at night, it was also a way to calm my self, bringing out that creative part of me.
It was relaxing and fulfilling, too.

I printed lots and lots, and these are some of the mandalas I colored using colored pencils

I got these free mandala coloring pages HERE.
And to give you some inspirations, HERE's a very nice gallery.

Happy Mandala Coloring!!!

Cute Animals Notepad

Another project using my Cute Animal Doodles.

My best friend , Ingrid, gave me a notepad last December 2010. She was the one who designed it, print and have it beautifully bound.  I used it mostly for grocery list, doodles, or take down notes. Still have few pages left :), and will leave it blank for keep sake, hehehe.

She shared it in her store as a freebie, which you can customize. It comes also with a very clear instructions.
So visit her store now --- http://www.mscraps.com/shop/product.php?productid=837

I had done some notepads before (based on Ingrid's template), for Christmas gifts.

For my latest notepad project, I made my own template and I used my cute animal doodles. The size of the notepad is 9cm x 9cm.

You can try making your own notepad, just download my PSD file for the template, edit the text and print. If you don't want any text in it, you can download the JPEG version, to print directly. After printing (Paper Size is 8.5 X 13), cut and gather all the paper, then clip it. Put glue on top of the gathered papers, at least 3 layers. Drying one layer at a time. You can also use a Padding Compound.
Notepad with name.

Notepad with no name.

Happy Notepad Making!!!
